Police charged a Durham teen this week with an October armed robbery at the Pizza Hut in Rams Plaza.
Anthony Leon McClary, 17, of 111 Dunstan Ave., Durham, was identified as one of two men who robbed the restaurant shortly before 10 p.m. Oct. 20, police reported. The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force arrested McClary around 8 a.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Dunstan Avenue.
McClary was charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony conspiracy to commit robbery and misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, police reported. He is being held in the Orange County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond.
Chapel Hill Police reported that one suspect had a handgun when the pair entered the business on North Fordham Boulevard and demanded money; the other implied that he had a weapon. The suspects stole more than $500 in cash and were thought to have fled the scene in a white Ford F-150.
They were both between 5-feet-10-inches and 6 feet tall with skinny builds, police reported, and both wore hoodies and masks during the robbery.
The other suspect has not been arrested. Anyone with information about the robbery or a possible suspect can call 911 or the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 942-7515. Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous.
