A Hillsborough man charged in a fatal DWI wreck in February pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Orange County Superior Court.
David Dees Hill II, 37, of 2511 Wade Hampton Road in Hillsborough, will face trial May 8.
He is charged with driving while impaired, felony death by vehicle, reckless driving with wanton disregard, and failure to maintain lane control.
Investigators said Hill was driving west on Dogwood Acres Drive in southern Orange County just before 2 a.m. Feb. 21 when his car ran onto the right shoulder and struck a tree.
Hill’s front-seat passenger, Ronald Louis Herbst Jr. 37, of 56 Dogwood Acres Drive, Chapel Hill, was killed in the accident.
