Efland businessman Andy Cagle filed Tuesday to run for an at-large seat on the Orange County Board of Commissioners.
Four seats are on the ballot in next year’s commissioners race. Three incumbent members – Mark Dorosin (District 1), Penny Rich (District 1) and Renee Price (District 2) – have filed for re-election. Commissioner Bernadette Pelissier will retire from her at-large seat in December 2016.
Hillsborough resident Bonnie Hauser is the only other challenger to have filed so far. She is seeking Price’s District 2 seat.
Cagle, 48, is the owner of Cagle’s Corner Grading, Hauling and Septic System and a former automotive technician and service center assistant manager. He also manages public relations and plays guitar with the bluegrass/gospel group, The Cagle Family.
Cagle ran unsuccessfully for Orange County sheriff in 2014.
The filing period for the 2016 election runs through noon Dec. 21; the primary is March 15.
