The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is seeking more information about a vehicle carrying a load of suspected cocaine found Monday morning on N.C. 54 at the Chapel Hill-Carrboro town limits.
Deputies responded to a call about a disabled motorist around 6:30 a.m. near the Laurel Ridge Apartments, according to a news release. The disabled vehicle – a four-door, 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac – was not occupied and was causing a traffic hazard, the release said. It was towed.
A later inventory of the Explorer revealed a hidden compartment containing a large quantity of suspected cocaine, deputies reported.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Sheriff’s Investigator B.K. Wilkerson at 919-245-2900. Callers can remain anonymous.
