Hillsborough police continue to investigate a bank robbery that occurred Monday morning in Hillsborough.
“We have very good leads and believe arrests will be made for this robbery,” said Lt. Scott Nicolaysen, commander of the Hillsborough Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
Officers from the department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after 11 a.m. Monday to a robbery of CommunityOne Bank at 102 Millstone Drive. Investigators are working with the FBI and the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and think the suspects in Monday’s robbery committed other recent bank robberies in surrounding areas.
In Monday’s robbery, a male subject wearing a mask, hood and gloves entered the bank and demanded money. No weapon was displayed, and the suspect did not use a note. He took an undisclosed amount of money and fled out the bank’s main doors. In the process of fleeing, he dropped some of the money, which was recovered. No additional details can be released at this time.
