The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who may have been responsible for several break-ins in the western part of the county.
Sheriff’s Investigator Josh Wood said the suspect may be working with an accomplice in the area stretching from the White Cross community in N.C. 54 to Buckhorn Road near the Alamance County line. The robber in at least four separate cases gained access to the homes by prying open a back window, he said.
The suspect, in each case, also grabbed what was convenient, he said, passing by “nicer TVs and a MacBook” to take an older television at the home on Buckhorn Road.
In that break-in, the “suspects were spooked off by a family member,” he said. Witnesses also reported seeing a second person in a vehicle parked in the home’s driveway, he said. The passenger door was open, he said.
Never miss a local story.
The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing a description of the vehicle at this time, he said. Residents in other break-ins – at Dobson Road and N.C. 54, and on Butler Road – reported jewelry and cash missing, he said.
Anyone with information about the suspect or the break-ins should contact Investigator Josh Wood at 919-245-2900.
