Library lovers will get more time in the stacks this spring when the Chapel Hill Public Library expands its operating schedule.
“Based on an analysis and review of community survey results, usage statistics and staff capacity, we have decided to add an hour each weekday morning and two hours on Sunday morning,” library director Susan Brown said. “These were two of the most preferred times indicated on the community survey, and we are excited to respond to our community’s needs and interests.”
The library will open at 9 a.m. weekdays, starting Monday, March 14, she said, and two hours earlier on Sunday – at 10 a.m. – starting May 8.
The extra seven hours brings the library’s schedule to 69 hours a week – one more hour than the library offered before being expanded and reducing its hours from 68 to 54 in April 2013. The town gradually has restored those hours since June 2013.
The fully implemented library schedule will be:
▪ 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday-Thursday
▪ 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday
▪ 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday-Sunday
