The Orange County Board of Education named Chris Gammon this week to be the new principal at Gravelly Hill Middle School.
Gammon is currently the principal at Mooresville Intermediate School and will take over at Gravelly Hill, located near Efland, this fall.
He previously was an assistant principal and teacher in the Mooresville Graded School District, and also was a teacher at his alma mater, Graham High School, in the Alamance-Burlington Schools system.
Gammon has a bachelor’s degree from Guilford College, a master’s degree from Michigan State University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Wingate University.
Never miss a local story.
He’s looking forward to building relationships with students, parents and staff, Gammon said, and working together to build on Gravelly Hill’s successes.
“I believe in the vision of Orange County Schools, and this is a great place to lay down roots,” Gammon said. “From a professional and personal point of view, Gravelly Hill is place where we can have great impact, and the community is a place where I’d like to raise my children.”
