Jay Julian Boomer and Priscilla Ann (Rogers) Boomer will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this June, spending a week at Sandbridge Beach, VA with family. They were married on June 19, 1965 in Kittery, Maine at what is now St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Jay and Cindy met in February 1965 while skiing on Mt. Agamenticus. According to Jay, the lift-line question ‘Are you a single?’ was misunderstood as the pick-up line ‘Are you single?’ and the answer was ‘yes’. That ride on a chair lift led to a date and four months later a wedding. Following a few short moves in ME, they eventually made a home for their two children, Kimberly and James in Addison, ME where they made many lifelong friends and memories in the community and in the classroom while pursuing careers as educators. As their family priorities changed, the family moved to Wells, ME in 1986 and was again blessed with good times and great friendships. Life’s priorities have led Jay and Cindy to their current residence in Chapel Hill, NC where they can enjoy easy access to their (4) grandchildren, children and their spouses.
