The Chapel Hill Small Dog Meetup Group will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays at Southern Village Dog Park, 1000 Dogwood Acres.

Pickleball

Blood drive

A blood drive for the American Red Cross will be from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the UNC-Chapel Hill student union on South Road. redcrossblood.org.

East Chapel Hill Rotary Teacher Supply Store

The eighth annual East Chapel Hill Rotary Teacher Supply Store will open with a ribbon-cutting at 2 p.m. and remain open until 6 p.m. at 1700 Legion Road, Chapel Hill. Each of 440 participating teachers will receive a $75 voucher to shop at the two-day school supply store. The program is open to elementary school teachers, new teachers, family specialists, middle school teachers, and self-contained elementary/middle school teachers. The program is funded by the East Chapel Hill Rotary Club and donors.

Carrboro Farmers’ Market

The Carrboro Farmers’ Market is open from 3-6 p.m. Wednesdays in the Carrboro Town Commons, beside Town Hall at 301 W. Main St.

Tour

The Alliance for Historic Hillsborough offers an hour-long guided walking tour at 3 p.m., starting at the Hillsborough Visitors Center, 150 E. King St. Participants will visit a school house, a 19th-century law office and Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston’s headquarters and office and learn about Afrika Parker’s downtown moonshine operation. Optimist Club

The Optimist Club of Chapel Hill meets at 5:30 p.m. on the first, second and third Wednesdays of the month at the Bob Evans restaurant, 5419 Chapel Hill Blvd., Durham. New members are welcome.

The Orange County Public Library’s Main Library will host Alysa Leandra as she reads the work of Irish author Frank O’Connor at 6:30 p.m. at 137 W. Margaret Lane, Hillsborough.
