CARRBORO LOOKS FOR LOCAL ARTISTS: The town of Carrboro invites residents to submit their artwork for local exhibitions. ci.carrboro.nc.us/AdvBoards/Art/ArtistInfo.htm.
HILLSBOROUGH ARTS COUNCIL: The Hillsborough Arts Council is looking for submissions for art gallery exhibitions in 2014 and 2015. Artists who live or have a studio in Orange, Alamance, Chatham, Durham, Caswell, Person or Wake counties are invited to apply with a $15 fee by 4 p.m. Friday, April 25. hillsboroughartscouncil.org.
LIVE & LOCAL MUSIC & ART: The Live & Local Music & Art series will be from 6-9 p.m. Fridays from April 25 through June 27 at The Plaza at 140 West Franklin in Chapel Hill. 140westfranklinplaza.com.
‘POETRY AND PSYCHE’: The C.G. Jung Society of the Triangle will host Jungian analyst Dr. Gretchen Heyer for a lecture from 7-9:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, and a workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Binkley Baptist Church, 1712 Willow Drive, Chapel Hill. The lecture costs $10, $5 for students, and the workshop costs $30 for members, $48 for non-members and $15 for students. jungnc.org.
SOCK HOP: The Orange County Department on Aging and the Friends of the Robert and Pearl Seymour Center will host the Fun-Feisty 50s Sock Hop from 7-10 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Seymour Center, 2551 Homestead Road, Chapel Hill. There will be beer and wine tastings, a silent auction and music by Dick Levin and Friends and Sylvia Kaler. Tickets cost $20 each or $35 per pair. 323-762-5467.
LOCAL ROOTS CRAFT FESTIVAL: The Local Roots Craft Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at 300 E. Main St., Carrboro. There will be jewelry, pottery, knitwear, soap, candles, toys, baked goods and more by 25 local artists. The Parlour Ice Cream Bus and other vendors will sell food and there will be a trunk show and crafts for all ages. Admission is free.
CLAYWORKS GUILD SPRING SALE: The ClayWorks Guild Spring Sale will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at University Mall, 201 S. Estes Drive, Chapel Hill. ncclayworks.org.
