Horton High School Alumni Association scholarships

The Horton High School Alumni Association offers scholarships to descendants of Horton High School alumni and attendees who are in high school, college, university or graduate school during the 2014-2015 academic year. 919-444-9090,

Carolina Tiger Rescue donation matching

Tigers in America will match 50 percent of any donation of $500 or more to Carolina Tiger Rescue. Carolina Tiger Rescue, a nonprofit in Pittsboro, cares for 70 animals (tigers, leopards and more) and teaches about conservation. For donation matching, mail a check for $500 or more to Tigers in America with Carolina Tiger in the memo line.,

Piedmont Wildlife Center donation matching

Microsoft will match 100 percent of any donation to the Piedmont Wildlife Center on Wednesday, June 25, beginning at noon. Donate online. Any of the three projects with a blue “Microsoft YouthSpark” banner are eligible for donation matching.

Boys Rock for Girls Rock

Boys Rock for Girls Rock will raise money for Girls Rock of North Carolina on Friday, June 27, at the Haw River Ballroom, 1711 Saxapahaw Bethlehem Church Road, Saxapahaw. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Mountain Goats, Stu McLamb with members of The Love Language and Phil Cook and The Beast will perform. Tickets are $15.

Goodwill Community Foundation collects donations

The Goodwill Community Foundation will collect donations of gently used clothes or household items at Durham Bulls games at the Durham Athletic Park from Friday, July 4, through Sunday, July 6, on Wednesday, July 16, and from Friday, Aug. 8, to Sunday, Aug. 10.

Martha’s Day

A Martha’s Day fundraiser for the Compass Center for Women and Families will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Vimala’s Curryblossom Café, 431 W. Franklin St., suite 16, Chapel Hill. Tickets cost $35.
