Patricia Anne Fleishman - Gooder left us on Sunday November 16, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Boston, MA, October 15, 1955.
Trish immigrated to London by boat when she was 3 weeks old with her mother, Rachel Gooder, from Farmville, NC and her father, Harry Gooder, from York, England. She spent the first 6 years of her life in England before her family returned to the United States and settled in Chapel Hill, NC. Trish graduated from Chapel Hill High in 1973 and received a BS in Zoology with a certificate as a Medical Technologist from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1978. She met her husband, Larry, while at UNC and they were married in 1983. They settled in Charlotte in 1985 and their family was completed with 3 children.
Trish was a devoted mother, friend, gardener, handywoman, and member of the Charlotte Jewish community. She was a huge fan of science and of travel. She sat on the Boards of Temple Beth El and the Charlotte Jewish Pre-School. She was a passionate homemaker, designing her family’s current home and engaging her children in landscaping projects. She could usually be found painting walls, planting flowers or delivering meals to those in need while listening to NPR.
Trish is survived by her husband, Larry; her children Ben, Alyssa, and Suzanne; father, Harry Gooder and his wife Sally Vilas, her sisters Caroline Gooder, Mary Vilas, and Cathy Vilas Stanford, her brother John Vilas; and her ‘Village’ friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Rachel Barrett Gooder.
Never miss a local story.
A Memorial service for Trish occurred at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Temple Beth El, 5101 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. Interment will be private. Memorial donations can be made to the Levine Cancer Institute.
