Marie Hutton Foley Weiden, 84, of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at home. She was born in Tarrytown, NY on Oct. 30, 1931. Marie graduated from University of California Santa Barbara with a degree in Biology, and attended Cornell University, where she met her husband of 50 years, Mathias H. Weiden. She was an avid gardener, volunteered at the Chapel Hill Community Kitchen, and pursued a life long interest in the stock market. Preceded in death by her husband, Marie is survived by daughters Erica (Phil) Ayer of Anchorage, AK and Lucy (John) Briggs of Midland, MI, sons Conrad (Pamela) Weiden of Chapel Hill, and Anthony Weiden of Berkeley, CA, and siblings Sharon Brownett, Edward (Gloria) Foley both of California. Her brother, Henry Hobson joined her a week later, passing on July 2, 2016. Marie’s life was enriched by her grandchildren, Lucia (Jon) Kirsch, Amy (Mike) Leguinectte and Luke (Calesta) Ayer all of Anchorage, AK, Sharon Briggs of San Francisco, CA, Catherine Briggs of St. Louis, MO, and Andrew Briggs of Boston, MA and Adelaide, Catherine, Mathias and Conrad Weiden of Chapel Hill, NC, as well as great grandchildren Maverick, Brooks and Mabel Kirsch, and Maxwell and Anthony Leguineche and Branson Ayer all of Anchorage. A Memorial Service will be held in August at the Santa Barbara Mission, CA.
