High School Sports
Baseball: Orange, ranked No. 4 in the state by ImpactBaseball.com, plays at Northwood, 7 p.m. in a meeting of two of the area's top programs.
Softball: Chapel Hill at East Chapel Hill, 4:30 p.m. At least that's how it's scheduled for today. This game has been postponed twice before as East softball has suffered through 10 rainouts this spring.
Soccer: Cedar Ridge at undefeated Chapel Hill, 6:45 p.m.
Tennis: The PAC-6 Tournament at East Chapel Hill High School, which hasn't lost a conference match since, well no one remembers when. Play begins at noon. At Carrboro, the Jaguars host Voyager Academy, 4:30 p.m.
Open Practice: Orange County Speedway will host drivers' practice from 4 p.m. to dark. Spectators are admitted free, though there is a $10 fee for a pit entrance pass.
High School Sports
Baseball: Chapel Hill hosts Wilson Hunt in an NCHSAA Endowment Game, 6 p.m.
Boys Lacrosse: East Chapel Hill at Chapel Hill in the second meeting between these two rivals this season, 6:30 p.m. East won the first one 12-7.
Girls Lacrosse: Fighting to get back to .500, East Chapel Hill plays a conference game at Jordan, a team the 'Cats beat 15-0 earlier this season, 6:30 p.m.
Tennis: Scrambling to finish up its conference slate before next week’s NCHSAA tournament begins, Carrboro has its third match in three days, hosting Reidsville at 4:30 p.m.
Track & Field: Gearing up for the conference championships, Chapel Hill runs at Southern Durham, 4:30 p.m.
Volleyball: Orange High will host a meeting for all young ladies interested in trying out for Panther volleyball in Fall 2014. In the OHS 'Big Gym,' 6 p.m.
High School Sports
Soccer: East Chapel Hill at Chapel Hill, 6:45 p.m. CHHS won the first meeting back in Week 1 of the season, but East is still ranked No. 14 in the state and is one of only two teams to hold the Tigers to just one goal when they played.
Baseball: Winners in seven of eight games coming into the week, East Chapel Hill travels to Durham Riverside in a PAC-6 game that could decide who wins the conference championship. Northwood vs. Orange in the second game of the home-and-away series. 7 p.m.
Saturday April 26
Orange Country Speedway will host races for Super Mini Trucks, Limited-, Pure- and Street-Stock, with the evening capped by a Late Model event. Qualifying starts at 5:40 p.m. The green flag drops at 7 p.m.
Tar Heel 10-Miler & 4-Mile Run
The biggest road race in Chapel Hill, it starts on South Road, courses from the UNC campus out onto Franklin Street and through several residential neighborhoods, then ends in Kenan Stadium. (Remember: Franklin Street will be closed until runners clear the area.) The 4-mile race starts at 7:25 a.m. and the 10-mile at 7:30 a.m.
Golf: Big 8 Tournament: Unlike the usual 9-hole format for the regular season, this will be 18 holes at Occoneechee Golf Club, 1 p.m. April 28.
Boys Lacrosse: Big 8 Conference tournament, No. 3 seed vs. No. 6 and No. 4 vs. No. 5 on April 28. Semifinals on April 29. Championship on May 1.
Tennis : 1st round of NCHSAA dual-team tournament. pairings TBD. 4:30 p.m. at various sites on April 29.
Track & Field : Big 8 Conference Championships, at Cedar Ridge High School, 2 p.m. April 30.
