5K Race/walk: UNC Health Care is co-hosting the inaugural Walk to Cure HHT 5K walk/run in Chapel Hill. Net proceeds go to the fight against Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia, a disorder that causes excessive bleeding internally and externally. See more at:

NCHSAA Playoffs: boys & girls lacrosse, state semifinals.

Basketball: Orange High School 3-on-3 Tournament, in the OHS Big Gym, starting at 4 p.m. See Coach Greg Motley for further details.

Sport Physicals: Triangle Orthopaedics will offer physical exams (good for fall sports sports forms) for $10 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel Hill and Durham offices. All proceeds will be donated back to the athletic department at the school which the students attend.

Cycling: Tarwheels monthly meeting at Carolina Alehouse on Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd., Durham, beginning with dinner from the menu about 6 p.m. The program includes a presentation by former Tarwheels president Jeff Charles on “Bicycling Advocacy : Winning Non-Cyclists Over to Our Side.” For more information, call 919-215-1309.

Auto Racing: Orange County Speedway hosts Military Appreciation Night with seven events. (Military/vets with i.d. get in for $5.) Qualifying at 5:40 p.m., racing starts at 7 p.m. See for more information.
