Cardinal ‘Trash Can’ Camp: Part Lacrosse instruction, part 3-on-3 games played with age-group teams (and with a camp champion crowned), the North Chatham Cardinals’ Summer Camp will run 6-7:30 p.m., July 19-22 at Chatham Northeast Park off Big Woods Road in southern Chapel Hill. Bikefest Rural Heritage Tour: The Carolina Tarwheels Bicycle Club’s 20th annual tour of Orange County will start from downtown Hillsborough on Saturday, Aug. 8. Riders can choose from three tours: a 35-mile half metric, a 62-mile metric century, and a 100-mile English century. Each is fully supported with rest stops, refreshments, snacks, and restrooms. Routes are patrolled by support vehicles. There is also a free “Fun Ride,” a 7-mile tour of historic sites in and around Hillsborough. Advance registration is required. Godiva Summer Track: July 15 — Wednesday is a “long night” in the Godiva Summer Track series. Events include the mile run (usually 3 heats), 200 meters, a mile racewalk, 800 meters and 5000 meters. St. Thomas More 7.5K: Aug. 29 — Help celebrate the 75th anniversary of the St. Thomas More Parish with a 7.5K road race and Kids Fun Run. Start and finish at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Carmichael Road, with a challenging, scenic course through Chapel Hill neighborhoods. Summer Swim League: July 17-18 — CHSSL championships at UNC’s Koury Natatorium. Ages 13 & over will race Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Ages 8 & under will race Saturday 8:30-11a.m., and ages 9-12 will race Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

Baseball: The Durham Bulls return to action after the Triple-A All-Star Game break with a four-game homestand against Pawtucket (the Red Sox’s only visit to Durham this year.)
