East Chapel Hill pounded out 12 hits in just five innings last week as the Wildcats routed Jordan, 13-3, in a PAC-6 softball game, shortened to five innings by the state’s 10-run “mercy rule.”
Katie Agatucci homered in the first inning and had an RBI single in East’s five-run fourth inning. Geena Kennihan followed Agatucci with a two-run single, then Grace Vincent hit a two-run homer to drive in Kennihan.
Kennihan (1-1) pitched for her first win of the season for East Chapel Hill (3-2, 2-0 PAC-6), striking out four, walking three and allowing just one hit over the first three innings.
Kayla Kaminski was charged with the loss. She allowed 13 runs in four and two-thirds 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out five.
Never miss a local story.
Vincent’s last at-bat was an RBI double, scoring Kennihan with East’s 13th run to invoke the 10-run rule.
