Running in warm and humid (and sometimes downright stormy) conditions Fleet Feet’s Sam Montclair, of Durham, and Raleigh Runologist Rita Dorry were the top men’s and women’s finishers at the Cardinal Track Club’s Four on the Fourth 4-mile road race Monday in Carrboro.
Montclair, 25, was first across the line, with a time of 20:50.21. He was followed in by former Louisiana Tech runner Sean Bezdek, 23, of Carrboro (21:02.21) in second and recent East Chapel Hill grad Ethan Ready (21:59.96), who was this year’s Orange County and PAC-6 champ at 3,200 meters.
Dorry, 26, was the overall female winner with her time of 25:00.22. Dorry, a member of Raleigh’s Runologie Team, was coming off a successful spring, which included her first place among all runners, male and female, in the Not So Normal 5K.
Fleet Feet trainer Nora Hannapel Ayers was second overall among women Monday, finishing in 25:39.21, while Nancy Kaiser, 45, of Durham (26:03.09) was third.
