Wise Metals Group, which has an operation in Johnston County near Clayton, has announced the merger of Wise Recycling with Source Recycling.
Wise has five yards in Colorado, North Carolina, Florida and Virginia, plus feeder locations in six states. Source Recycling has three yards in Maryland and North Carolina and one feeder in Maryland. The new company will be named Wise Recycling. and all of the yards will operate under the Wise Recycling name and logo. Wise will own a majority of the equity in the new company.
Wise will continue to operate independently its seven New Mexico yards and one Kentucky yard.
Wes Oberholzer is the company’s president and chief operating officer. “We believe the creation of the new Wise will position it as a more effective competitor in all the markets Wise serves, and we are excited about the prospects of this business going forward,” he said.

Excel Level I – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive, Clayton. In this introduction to spreadsheets, businesspeople will learn how to create and modify a basic workbook. The fee is $71.
Publisher I – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive, Clayton. Learn how to create professional documents. The fee is $71.
Quickbooks – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 6 in Room 1033 at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive, Clayton. Topics include setting up the company file; customizing templates; setting up customers and vendors; creating invoices, receiving payment and making deposits; entering and paying bills; and reconciling bank, credit card and loan accounts. The fee is $125.
Understanding and Motivating Others in the Workplace – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 18 in Room 1032 at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive, Clayton. Learn how to recognize, apprecaiate and make effective use of the differences in people you work with. The fee is $125.
Parker joins Four Oaks Bank
Brandon Barker has joined Four Oaks Bank in Clayton as a commercial lender.
A native of Dunn, Parker is a graduate of Campbell University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in trust and investment management with a minor in financial planning. He earned his master’s degree in business administration at Campbell and has completed the N.C. School of Banking program at Chapel Hill.
Parker brings nine years of banking and lending experience to Four Oaks Bank.
“I am confident Brandon will be as asset to our company,” said Brent George, vice president and Clayton city executive at Four Oaks Bank. “We look forward to the contributions Brandon will make as he works to generate business relationships in Clayton and the surrounding area.”
