Bank’s earnings climb
Smithfield-based KS Bancorp has reported third-quarter earnings for $331,000, or 25 cents a share. A year ago, earnings were $309,000, or 24 cents a share.
For the nine months ending Sept. 30, earnings were $591,000, or 45 cents a share. The year before, nine-month earnings were $634,000, or 48 cents a share.
The bank will not pay a third-quarter dividend.

Bank employees take challenge
On Sept. 18, employees of Four Oaks Bank took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, raising $2,228 to fight Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
