KS Bancorp reports net income
Smithfield-based KS Bancorp Inc. has reported net income of $200,000, or 15 cents per share, for the three months ending June 30. That’s up from the $86,000, or 7 cents a share, earned in the same quarter a year ago.
For the most-recent period, net interest income was $2.4 million, down from $2.5 million a year ago. Non-interest income was $548,000, down from $720,000. Non-interest expenses decreased $500,000, from $3 million a year ago to $2.5 million in the recent quarter.
Ice cream social

Bank declares dividend
The board of directors of First Citizens BancShares Inc. has declared a quarterly dividend of 30 cents per share on the Class A and Class B common stock. The dividend is payable Oct. 7 to shareholders of record Sept. 16.
The Chamber Women’s Business Network will hold Taste of Tuscany, a summer social, from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, in Room 1404 of the Johnston Medical Mall on North Bright Leaf Boulevard in Smithfield. The cost is $12 per person and includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, lemonade and a raffle.
