Women in Networking to award scholarship
Clayton Women in Networking is accepting applications for the group’s first Business Scholarship.
The scholarship will go to a woman 19 or older who wants to further her education and enhance her business career. Criteria include financial need, personal circumstances, achievements and educational goals.

Benson woman’s daughter promoted
Jill Cole Bell, daughter of Estella Cole of Benson, has been named director of human resources for the Big South Region of Comcast Cable.
A 1990 graduate of South Johnston High School, Bell has more than 12 years of experience in human resources. She attended N.C. State University before transferring to Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She recently relocated to Atlanta with her husband, Clinton, and their two children.
Contractor welcomes project superintendent
Glenn L. Loo of Fuquay-Varina has joined Stephenson General Contractors in Smithfield as project superintendent. He has 26 years of experience in construction.
Loo earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the City College of New York. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from Farleigh Dickinson University.
Loo and his wife, Nancy, have two sons, Michael and John.
Panel discussion on work, family
A panel discussion on “taking care of business” at work and home is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Hinnant Family Vineyards, 826 Pine Level-Micro Road. WRAL-TV news anchor Debra Morgan will moderate the discussion on balancing family and career responsibly.

Expo seeks vendors
The Smithfield-Selma Chamber of Commerce is seeking vendors for its 2013 BB&T Business Expo, which will be Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Johnston County Agricultural Center. The annual business trade show draws more than 40 exhibitors and nearly 1,000 attendees.
This year’s expo will offer two distinct marketing opportunities. Business-to-Business will be 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Community marketing will be 4-7 p.m. The latter will also be time for the community to bring children for trick-or-treating.
