Anyone who needs vital records from the Johnston County Registrar of Deeds office can order these records online and also pay for the records online.
Applicants can log onto jcrod.permitium.com/rod to access the new system. The system went into effect April 1, according to Johnston County Register of Deeds Craig Olive.
Now applicants can use a credit card to pay for birth certificates, death certificates and marriage certificates, Olive said. If applicants want to pay by cash or money order, they can present the cash and money order in person at the office between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.
Applicants will receive automated emails notification on the status of their order.

Applicants can log into the Registrar of Deed’s website and check the status of their order using their order number, email address and password (created by the resident during the ordering process).
Olive said the new system streamlines the ordering process and reduces the need to place follow-up telephone calls or make unnecessary trips to the courthouse.
