Clayton police have charged a man with stealing jeans from a women’s clothing store a few weeks ago.
On June 25, a man collected about 25 pairs of women’s blue jeans and ran out of Maurices at 933 Towne Center Blvd. in Clayton. That’s located in the Walmart-anchored shopping center on U.S. 70 Business.
During the investigation, Clayton police learned the same suspect had committed a string of similar thefts in other areas, including later that same day at the Aeropostale outlet store in Smithfield.
In coordination with other law enforcement agencies, Clayton police charged Donald Crawford Hunt, 26, of 2937 Evergreen Church Road, Pembroke.
Hunt was already in custody at the Richmond County Detention Center in Rockingham, where he faces a variety of charges from Robeson, Scotland, Richmond and Moore counties. Clayton police added one count of felony larceny to the list of charges against Hunt.
