Christmas market
A 4-H Merry Market is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Johnston County Agricultural Center, 2736 N.C. 210, Smithfield. More than 30 vendors will sell their wares, and Fraser fir wreaths will be available for $18. A cafe will offer baked goods and plates of chicken pastry, baked sweet potato and cornbread for $5.

The American Music Jubilee in Selma is launching a new Christmas show. Grinch-themed run
The Smithfield Parks and Recreation will hold a 5K run and job Saturday, Dec. 6. Same-day registration opens at 8:30 a.m. for the Grinch Stink Stank Stunk 5K Run & Jingle Bell Jog. The 5K run will begin at 10 a.m. The jog will start five minutes late. Bring a toy for a needy child, and dress as your favorite Who from Whoville for a costume contest. Home, art tour
“Christmas in Clayton,” an art and home tour, will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, in Taft Woods Test, a subdivision on Motorcycle Road.
Each home, decorated for the holidays, will have one or two artists selling works. Addresses on the tour are:

Live nativities
A live nativity will take place Dec. 5-7 at Smithfield Advent Christian Church at the corner of N.C. 210 and Galilee Road west of Smithfield. Hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Enjoy hot chocolate and refreshments while riding through the scenes.
Ornament workshop
The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department invites children ages 7-12 to make clay Christmas ornaments from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center, 600 Booker Dairy Road, Smithfield.
