Lindsey E. Gabrielsen of Clayton has graduated from Boston University with a master’s degree in public health.
FFA chapter, student win grant dollars
The West Johnston High School FFA chapter and one of its members have received a combined $3,500 in grants. The chapter received $2,500 to address local hunger needs. Student Alyssa Barbour received $1,000 for a Supervised Agriculture Experience.
The chapter plans to grow more than 400 pounds of produce to support the school’s BackPack Buddies program. Barbour plans to use her grant to start an organic garden and sell the produce to local customers.
Honor Roll student
Fifth-grader Hayden Hudson has been named to the Honor Roll at River Dell Elementary School for the second nine weeks of school.
Student from Clayton in honor society
Angela Mattison of Clayton has been inducted into Phi Theta Kappa at Central Carolina Community College. To qualify for induction into the international honor society, a Central Carolina student must have a grade point average of 3.7 or better.
Johnston student an aviation artist
A Johnston County student is among the winners in the N.C. Aviation Art Contest, an annual project of the state’s Division of Aviation.
Maria Young, a 16-year-old student at Corinth Holders High School, placed first in the senior division.
