Corinth Holders rolls by Wilson Hunt
Corinth Holders wrapped up a season sweep of Wilson Hunt in boys soccer with a 5-0 victory Tuesday night. Grant Austin and Jackson Creech scored two goals each for the Pirates (4-0). Logan Biethman added the match’s fifth goal.
Corinth Holders outshot the Warriors 21-4 on the night. Keepers Christian Green and Jack Roberson combined on the Pirates’ third shutout of the season.
Three in-state schools among Hines’ final seven

Garner standout running back Nyheim Hines has announced his top seven schools. Hines, writing on Twitter Wednesday night, said that (in no particular order) Florida, Duke, Georgia, N.C. State, Ohio State, Wake Forest and West Virginia are the schools he is still considering.
Hines is a four-star prospect and plans to announce his final decision this fall.
Princeton sweeps Carolina 1A opener
Princeton’s boys and girls cross country teams prevailed in the opening Carolina 1A Conference cross country match of the season on Tuesday. The Bulldog boys totaled 26 points to beat runner-up Hobbton by 29 points.
Princeton runners finished in the top three spots, led by Jose Aquillan who won in 18 minutes, 52 seconds. Austin Sullivan was second and Hunter Mitchell took third.
The Bulldog girls nipped Hobbton by five points for their victory.
Princeton’s Altheia Balego was the runner-up in 24:47, while Megan Evans took sixth. Chelsea Hawley, Amber Johnson and Kassandra Velasque also posted top-10 finishes for Princeton.
West Johnston grabs second straight conference win
West Johnston topped Rolesville in volleyball in four sets (25-13, 25-15, 18-25, 25-16) Tuesday to move to 2-1 in Greater Neuse River 4A Conference play.
Garner drops Southeast Raleigh
Garner grabbed an 8-0 girls tennis victory over Southeast Raleigh on Wednesday. Nicole Root, Mandisa Ebri, Tiambe Goode, Christine Wilkins, Montana Dare and Taylor Malm all won in sinlges for the Trojans.
Bulldogs move to 6-0
Princeton swept Hobbton in volleyball, 25-18, 25-17, 25-13, on Wednesday to move to 6-0 on the season. Taylor Carroll led the Bulldogs with nine kills in the win. Charley Cox had 26 assists and Hailey Wood contributed four aces.
Princeton stands 3-0 in Carolina 1A Conference play and 6-0 overall.
