Garner Optimist super ball tournament
The Garner Optimist Club will hold its 16th annual golf tournament on Sunday, Oct. 5 at Reedy Creek Golf Course. The four-person super ball event beigns with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The fee is $65 per player or $260 per team. Proceeds benefit the St. Baldrick’s Childood Cancer Foundation. Lunch and dinner will be served. The field is limited to 32 teams. Golf tournaments for ages 6-11
The Tarheel Youth Golf Association will offer a new TYGA Tots tournament program for ages 6-11. These nine-hole tournaments will use a modified Stableford scoring system. Courses will be between 1,000-1,200 yards for ages 6-7, 1,400-1,600 for ages 8-9 and 1,800-2,000 for ages 10-11. Each player must have an adult caddie. Entry fees are $20-35 per event. Free wildlife event at Lake Wheeler
Learn about fishing, hunting and wildlife conservation during a Sept. 27 event at Lake Wheeler in Raleigh. It is one of eight free events the N.C. Wildlife Resources is hosting or supporting in celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day 2014. Coordinated by the Commission's Centennial Campus Center for Wildlife Education, this free event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A drawing will be held at 2 p.m. for two three-hour fishing trips with Greggofish Guide Service, as well as other prizes donated by the Wake County Wildlife Club. Wiffle ball, corn hole tournaments to benefit AHA
A Fun Day to benefit the Triangle Heart Walk for the American Heart Association will be held at Sam Godwin Park in Pine Level at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 13. There will be wiffle ball and corn hole tournaments. Entry fees are $60 for the wiffle ball tournament and $15 for the corn hole tournament. There will also be concessions on sale and a wide assortment of other activities for all ages. Proceeds from all concession sales and tournaments will go to the AHA.
