Why ASAP? “I wanted to give myself extra time to develop athletically and prepare for collegiate life without losing any NCAA eligibility.”
Notable: LaMont was a 2014 Greater Neuse River 4A All-Conference selection for the Comets and reevied Clayton’s team defensive lineman award as a senior as well. … He will play defensive end as well in college. “I need to work on my hips in terms of quick cut adjustments when coming off of the line and continue to work on my speed,” he said of his areas of improvement. … He wants to study business administration. … LaMont will take plenty of memories away from his time playing Comet football. “Honestly. some of my best memories are running through the tunnel at the beginning of each home game, the anticipation of playing our rivals Cleveland, Garner and Corinth Holders each year,” he said. “And hearing Mr. Craig Davis lead our parents, friends and family sitting in the stands in the C-O-M-E-T-S cheer each time we scored a touchdown. … “Knowing that I was part of a longstanding tradition of football at Clayton High School is a special feeling,” he added. “I made friends that I hope will last a lifetime.”
