Notable: Dominique wasn’t looking to go the military academy school way when she started considered colleges, but she quickly warmed up to the idea. “It was just a matter of me learning more about it,” she said. “The educational opportunity there is top notch and the idea of serving my country played a role in my decision as well.” … She has been swimming competitively since age 5 and started to get the idea that a future in college swimming might be a possibility when she was in the sixth grade. … Dominique focuses on the sprint events and her most memorable race was the N.C. Age Group State Championships where she swam the 50-yard freestyle in 24.5 seconds as an eighth grader. … She is a 15-time Greater Neuse River 4A Conference event champion, a former GNRC Swimmer of the Year and posted 10th place finishes in the NCHSAA 4A State Championships each of the past two seasons in the 100 free. … Quintero was a member of the 2012-13 Clayton team, which was named the winner of the AAA Scholar-Athlete team award after compiling a 3.77 GPA on a 4.0 scale as a team.
