Notable: As an academy player, Connor did not play in high school his junior and senior seasons. He was able to play as a freshman and sophomore alongside his brother, Chase, who is now a student-athlete at Bridgewater College. He was an all-conference and all-region player for the Comets.
His main position is defensive midfielder, but he also plays outside defensive back.
Connor plays at the top level of soccer for his age. The RailHawks Academy squad plays in a league with other academy teams in the Southeast Division, including residency Major League Soccer teams. The team also competes in tournaments against teams throughout the country, including LA Galaxy, DC United and Seattle Sounders, and has held rankings of No. 1 in North Carolina and No. 10 nationally this year.
He is ranked by Top Drawer in the top-30 overall and top-15 out of North Carolina players competing in the South Atlantic Region. He was also picked as a “Best 11” in the 2014 Top Drawer Soccer combine in Raleigh, an event that featured players from Maryland to Florida.
Connor’s parents are 1985 East Wake High School alumni and he has family that resides in the Wendell area: grandparents Charles and Hilda Jones, and Jan and Linda Strickland.
