The Durham County Department of Public Health will hold an Ebola education event for Durham’s West African community from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 403 E. Main St. downtown.
The information session, in partnership with Diaspora Alliance NC is designed to:
• Increase awareness, reduce stigma, and increase communication and trust with public health workers.
• Update the community on the current situation in West Africa and what’s known about the disease, its transmission, and management.
• Discuss what preparedness measures the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, North Carolina, and specifically, Durham County officials have in place in case a suspected Ebola case occurs.
