Durham school board: Lee unseats Parker; Diamenah, Sears win

Incumbent Omega Curtis Parker, who had served on the board since 2006, lost to her challenger Mike Lee in District 1 by a landslide.

Challenger Mike Lee unseated Omega Curtis Parker, who had served on the school board since 2006, in a landslide Tuesday.

Lee, a product manager for local databases Credit Suisse in District 1, won 3,412 votes to Parker’s 1,822.

Sendolo Diaminah, a community organizer, won 2,916 votes to win in District 2.

Matt Sears, the director of school services for NC New Schools, won 5,007 votes in District 3.

Incumbent Natalie Beyer ran unopposed in District 4 and will stay in her seat.
