Residents with ideas and suggestions for how Durham can improve its pools and spraygrounds are encouraged to attend a Thursday meeting.
The information gathered will be used to craft Durham’s Aquatics Facilities Master Plan.
The drop-in style meeeting will be held at the Durham Armory, 212 Foster St., from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Parking is available on the street or at the Durham Centre Parking Garage located at 300 W. Morgan St.
During the meeting, participants can visit several stations to generate and offer ideas, as well as review trends in aquatics.
“The City of Durham understands the importance of affordable and safe aquatic facilities for the community,” said Jason Jones, assistant director of Durham Parts and Recreation. “We are committed to identifying ways to improve our aquatics assets and believe that that this process must first begin with the residents.”
After the meeting, the consultants Ratio and Counsilman Hunsaker will provide some conceptual plan options, recommendations and draft a final report. Additional public meetings will be held during the subsequent phases.
