• The N.C. Boys Choir recently returned from New York City where they joined other youth choirs from across the nation for the American Music Performance Nationals. The event culminated in a Prism Concert in Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall.
• The women’s fiction and romance novel “A Sinner in Paradise” by Deborah Hining received the Foreword Reviews IndiFab Best Book of the Year Award in Fiction. The book also won the Benjamin Franklin Silver Award for Best Cover. Hining lives at Connie’s Orchard in Durham County.
• Two Durham students earned honors for the Spring 2014 term at the Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H. Thomas Williams Samuel and L. Coleman Nicolas, both in grade 10, earned High Honors.
•  Angela Janelle Lewis of Durham received her white coat at the Physician Assistant Program Class of 2015 White Coat Ceremony at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine June 28. The ceremony is a public demonstration of a student’s commitment to patient care and professionalism. During the Ceremony, each physician assistant student is presented and "robed" with his or her short white laboratory coat.
