▪ Durham earned a 2016 Audrey Nelson award from the National Community Development Association for the Denson Apartments for Veterans.
The apartments, which are for veterans who are homeless and have disabilities, were developed by CASA, the City of Durham Community Development Department, The Home Depot Foundation, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency.
▪ Faith Fleming, Caleb Gorham, Gabrielle Grant, ShyKaela Johnson, Crystal Okafor, Stephanie Quintanilla, Richard Whitted and Allandria Yancey Sullivan were named to the Dean’s List at Chowan University.
▪ The City of Durham Public Works Department Stormwater and GIS Services Division recognized The Refectory Café, Pine State Flowers, Beer Durham and Cocoa Cinnamon as Stormwater STAR businesses.
