The X-1R Pro-Cup series will return Saturday to the high-banks of Orange County Speedway with the Summer Slam 385 – featuring a major 200-lap race for late model stock cars.
Pro-Cup driver J.P. Morgan comes into Orange County Speedway fresh off of his July 12 win at western North Carolina’s Tri-County Speedway in Hudson.
Momentum seems to be on Morgan’s side as he pulls into Rougemont. He is the only repeat winner in the Pro- Cup Series this season and has had repeated success at OCS throughout the years.
Morgan will have to fend off the series points leader Caleb Holeman and rising star Reid Wilson. A mere 15 points separates the top three in the standings.
Holeman has five top-five finishes this season. Wilson is coming off a second-place finish at Tri-County Speedway.
The OCS points race in the track’s Late Model division is even tighter. Only five points separate the top three frontrunners: Chris Denny, Chuck Lawson, and Mike Chambers.
The Pro Cup 200 will be preceded by events for the Allison Legacy Series, Limiteds, Pure Stock and Street Stock divisions.
Free tickets to the Summer Slam 385 can be found at carsprocup.com. Parking will cost $20.
Qualifying is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., and racing action will start at 7 p.m.
