Most Wake County magnet schools where more than half the students receive federally subsidized lunches are getting fewer applicants than more affluent schools. Wake is starting a new review of the magnet program that could result in some schools having their themes overhauled in hopes of boosting parents’ interest.

Residents in the Cheswick subdivision off of the I-540 and Knightdale Boulevard Bypass aren’t happy. Led by resident and a Cheswick homeowner Sunny Myers, a project manager in construction, a group of more than 50 neighbors is claiming that they were lied to by their home-site representative and is seeking the town’s help to pressure the developer or rezone the area.
