Two men were arrested early Tuesday and a third was charged Wednesday following a late-night shooting that caused minor injuries to a 13-year-old boy.
Police used a Wake County K9 to track Cedano Lee Moore, 22, and Barry Darnell Sills, 47, from the scene of the shooting at 511 E. North Street to a home at 501 E. North Street., Zebulon. The shooting occurred about 11:45 Monday night.
On Wednesday morning, officers with the Raleigh Police Department’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Gregory Leon Miles, 26, of 100 Westside Circle, Zebulon at a work site in Raleigh. Police Chief Tim Hayworth said investigators have evidence that leads them to believe Miles was the man who fired the weapon.
According to police the men had gotten into an argument with the teenager and another adult prior to the shooting. Hayworth said the men retrieved a gun from a home at 617 N. Privette St. in Zebulon, where Moore and Sills lived and went to the home on North Street where they found the teen standing in the yard.
They fired four or five shots and one of them grazed the boy on the neck. Police declined to identify the victim. He was treated at the scene by EMS workers, but was not taken to a hospital. The remaining shots struck the apartment complex buildings behind the victim.
“That’s one person who needs to be in church on Sunday morning thanking God that he’s still alive,” Hayworth said.
Moore, Sills and Miles are each charged with attempted murder and they are in the Wake County jail. Moore and Sills are under $100,000 bonds, while Miles is in jail under a $150,000 bond.
