A 19-year old Wendell man and 37-year old Middlesex man were killed in separate, recent vehicle accidents near the border of Johnston and Wake counties.
The first accident occurred the night of Nov. 6, when a car driven by Joseph Warren Early of Wendell ran off N.C. Highway 231 in the Corinth Holders area, the State Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said Early was driving east when the crash happened a short distance west of Harris Wilson Road about 9:40 p.m.
Early’s car went into a ditch, then came back onto the road before colliding with an electric pole and then a tree, troopers said.
Never miss a local story.
Troopers were called to the second wreck – also involving a collision with a tree – last Sunday, Nov. 9, about 3:45 p.m.
A motorcycle driven by Derrick Lavalle Wiggins, 37, of N.C. Highway 39 in Middlesex, ran off the right side of Creech Johnson Road just off N.C. Highway 39.
The site is about four miles south of Zebulon’s Five County Stadium and a half-mile west of Richardson Road, troopers said.
Trooper Daniel T. Sharpe said Wiggins “had not been (riding) motorcycles very long.”
Neither speed nor alcohol were suspected causes of the crash, according to Sharpe.
