Raleigh police are searching for a prisoner who ran from Wendell police as he was being checked out of WakeMed Saturday afternoon.
Kevin Terrell Jones, 27, is actually accused of running from police twice during the day. During a routine traffic stop in Wendell about 10 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Wendell Boulevard and Pine Street, Jones ran from officers. A foot chase ensued and Jones was caught about two blocks away near the intersection of Hollybrook and Fourth streets.
Following the chase, Jones complained of injuries. EMS was called to the scene and recommended that Jones be taken to WakeMed as a precaution.
Jones was treated and during the release process, Wendell police Chief Bill Carter said Jones ran again as police were waiting to transport him to the Wake County jail.
According to a press release from the Raleigh police department, Jones was last seen on Sunnybrook Road south of New Bern Avenue. He was wearing a black and white striped shirt and loght colored blue jeans. Jones was also handcuffed at the time he ran from the hospital.
He is facing charges of assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and a probation violation.
Anyone with information about Jones’ whereabouts is asked to call 911.
