Members of the East Wake High School music department became stars of their own Disney show April 26, when they entertained resort guests at the EPCOT Park. The group traveled from Wendell to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to take part in the Disney Performing Arts program.

The East Wake High School Mixed Chorus, under the direction of Amy Parker, performed at the Melody Gardens Theater in the EPCOT Park Saturday afternoon. The chorus performed a variety of numbers including, “Bring Me Little Water, Silvy” arranged by Moira Smiley with body percussion.

Later that day, the East Wake High School Concert Band, under the direction of Alan Mason and Dwayne Barnes, entertained EPCOT Park guests with a crowd-pleasing show. The band attracted a large audience with a medley of songs from the Disney movie “Frozen.”

This was both groups’ first visit to the resort with the Disney Performing Arts program.

Dance, vocal and instrumental ensembles from all around the world apply to perform each year as a part of Disney Performing Arts at both the Disneyland Resort in California and the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Once selected, they are given the opportunity to perform at the resort for an international audience of theme park guests.
