A freelance writer and horror-fiction writer from eastern Wake County surrendered Monday on charges that he had received more than 450 explicit pictures of girls who appear to be 12 to 15 years old.
Richard Alan Conine, 51, of 9428 Heritage Landing Court, a Zebulon address near Shepard School Road, turned himself in at the Wake County Detention Center and was booked on five warrants obtained by Zebulon police.
The warrants accused Conine of second-degree sexual exploitation of a child, saying he received the images between Jan. 27 and Feb. 16. They alleged four counts of third-degree exploitation for possession of the same images.
Police did not specify whether the images they believe Conine had were electronic or on paper.
