Due to “unforeseen construction and shipping delays,” the opening of the YMCA pool facility at Knightdale Station will be delayed one month.
Originally slated for a Friday, June 5 ribbon-cutting with swimmers able to dive into the seven-lane outdoor swimming pool and water slide on June 6, the YMCA now says they are shooting for an early July opening.
“We are working as fast as we can to get it up and running,” said Tony Campione, YMCA of the Triangle Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “We want to make sure we can open with our best foot forward.”
The pool has rescheduled their ribbon-cutting to Thursday, July 9 at 9:30 a.m.
Never miss a local story.
With a YMCA membership, members can take advantage of the pool as well as swim lessons, youth soccer and a summer day camp. Members can also access any YMCA in the Triangle.
Campione said that there are currently no “immediate long-term plans” for anything beyond the shelter and outdoor pool.
