Football and tractors didn’t have much in common until Aug. 27, when Wendell-based KIOTI Tractor and Raycom Sports partnered in the launch of a new football gaming app.
The app, ACC QB Challenge, is the first college football passing app. It is free and available for download for both Android and Apple devices.
Users can pick their favorite ACC team and enter into a variety of challenge modes competing as their star quarterback. The new app follows Charlotte-based Raycom Sports’ field-goal kicking game, ACC Football Challenge, which launched in 2013.
“The new passing style app takes the next step in the evolution of college sports mobile gaming,” Trey Walters, senior director of new media for Raycom Sports, said in a statement.

KIOTI Tractor leaders are excited over the prospective marketing benefits to the company as the presenting sponsor of ACC QB Challenge.
“This partnership is a great addition to our overall branding strategy as it creates a unique and integrated opportunity to support and engage our dealers, customers and fans with the KIOTI brand in one of the fastest-growing handheld digital arenas,” said Peter Dong Kyun Kim, president and CEO of Daedong-USA Inc., KIOTI Tractor Division.
As of Wednesday, the app had 14 ratings for a score of 4.5 out of 5, and seven reviews, all positive, in the App Store.
Along with the app, there is a sweepstakes giving users 18 and older the chance to enter to win a CS2410 KIOTI tractor, equipped with a mid-mount mower and front-end loader.
“We are always looking for new and creative ways to reach our dealers and end-users,” said Christina Propst, creative director of the KIOTI Tractor Division. “The ACC QB Challenge app is fun and engaging and when combined with the tractor giveaway it makes the campaign great for football and tractor fans alike.”
People can enter the sweepstakes through the app or online between Sept. 5 and Nov. 30. Only one entry will be accepted per email address.
ACC QB Challenge is a first-person game in which the objective is to be as accurate as possible connecting passes with receivers running a variety of routes.
Game modes include head-to-head, where users can compete in real time against other users online; season mode, allowing users to play their favorite team’s eight-game conference schedule with a goal of reaching the ACC Championship; and rivalry mode, in which users join forces to help their favorite teams in virtual weekly competitions against the opponent their actual team faces that given week.
There is also a farm- and KIOTI-themed practice mode where bonuses and power-ups can be earned.
