Police here on Tuesday continued to investigate a shooting that occurred over the weekend in Pineview Estates neighborhood off East Gannon Avenue.
Officers received multiple reports of shots fired at a residence on Pineview Drive, near the front of the subdivision, about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20. Police Chief Tim Hayworth said on one was injured.
“We believe that there was possibly an altercation between a person in 300 Pineview Drive and a vehicle that was parked on the street, and the vehicle fired shots into the residence,” Hayworth said Tuesday. “Nobody was struck. We’re working some leads on it. If anyone has anything else, they can call (Eastern Wake) Crimestoppers or the Zebulon Police Department.”
Police declined to name any of the victims or their suspect.
One stray round hit the front porch area of another nearby residence, at 261 Cedar Drive.
Police said two adults were outside and another adult was inside the Cedar Drive home at the time of the shooting. They hadn’t found the bullet there, just the hole in the house, they said Tuesday.
Hayworth said a quantity “in the neighborhood of 15 rounds” were fired in the incident, and that police found 9 and 7.62 mm bullet casings in the area of the shooting.
Det. Sgt. Ashley Dixon said the department had interviewed nearly all residents in the front portion of the neighborhood as of Tuesday afternoon.
“We’re just at the start of this,” Dixon said.
The shooting took place just around the corner from Harmonica Drive, where Zebulon Police charged a Raleigh 17-year-old fired two shots from a stolen .45-caliber handgun into a residence in January, 2015.
