Traffic remained blocked on Wendell Boulevard Friday afternoon after a minivan knocked down a utility pole and overturned early Friday.
Only minor injuries were sustained, police Chief Bill Carter said, and no one was transported to the hospital.
Carter said a 2013 Dodge minivan driven by Lashanda Morgan, 34, of Wendell was traveling east on Wendell Boulevard near Oakwood Avenue at about 5 a.m. when it left the road, struck a mailbox, a Time-Warner cable box and then a Duke Energy utility pole before overturning.
The utility pole broke and fell creating a safety hazard that required the road be closed while crews repaired the damage.
Never miss a local story.
There were two additional passengers in the vehicle, Carter said. They were evaluated on the scene and declined further treatment.
Carter said the wreck was still under investigation but that he did not believe speed was a factor.
