Fire Department meeting
The Wendell Fire Department will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Station #1, 2960 Wendell Blvd., Wendell. The meeting will include the election of members to the Board of Directors.
Fire rescue anniversary
The Eastern Wake Fire and Rescue will hold its 60th anniversary celebration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at 4828 Clifton Road, Knightdale. Attractions include music, food and drinks, a tour of the station, fire and rescue demos, a bouncy house and clown for children and a dunking booth.
Walk/Run for Hope
The Foundation of Hope for Research and Treatment of Mental Illness will hold the 26th annual Thad and Alice Eure Walk for Hope and the 6th annual Run for Hope Sunday, Oct. 12, at the Angus Barn restaurant at 9401 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh. The Walk for Hope features 10k, 5k and 1-mile route options and begins at 10 a.m. with onsite registration starting at 8 a.m. The Run for Hope features a 10k or 5k run and starts registration at 7 a.m. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $60. Pigeon Forge trip
