The Knightdale Chamber of Commerce will present the first Knightdale downtown historical walking tour, narrated by former mayor Billy Wilder, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.
Participants will learn how the history of the area, the families and buildings shaped a memorable way of life during several decades. The tour will start in the driveway of “The Robertson House,” 605 North First Ave., Knightdale, currently owned by Pete and Karen Mangum. The tour will discuss 12 to 15 downtown sites along First Avenue to end at Knightdale Chamber of Commerce on Main Street.
“Knightdale’s story is ever changing and evolving. As community, we have discussions about its future but it is just as important to remember our past. This is how we keep Knightdale’s story significant in the east region,” said chamber executive director Mary Yount.
